In October there was furore in the media over a report commissioned by the government to look into reforming employment laws with headlines such as “Scrap unfair dismissal claims for lazy workers” and reporting on how impossible it is to sack workers who ‘coast along’. Very emotive words (which of course is how headlines are meant to attract your attention!) but what is the true picture?
